Good design can sometimes be magical, like the designer simply stumbled onto a great combination of components that both engage and enlighten the viewer. In actuality, graphic designers use a set of tools known as the elements of design, to build and made the perfect design. This guide will give you an overview of six basic elements of design that will make sure your design is as powerful as can be.
The elements of design:
- Lines
Lines can enclose and contain the parts of a design by creating outlines. They can be smooth, rough, continuous, broke, thick or thin. The lines inside the poster can be used to emphasises, setting particular information off in busy and drawing the eye to a particular area.
2. Shape
A shape is any enclosed space defined by lines or in contrast to its surroundings. They can be geometric but in this case the poster put an organic shape such as stars.
3. Colors
Color is incredibly important and should never be an afterthought. On the poster, the colour that plays an important role is turquoise and red. Both of the colour balanced and contrasted appropriately.
4. Size
The size inside the poster that attract your eyes the most. Usually it is the most important in layout functional, attractive or organised. The most focal point is the word "BOWIE"
5. Value
The lightness or darkness of tones and colours. Turquoise is the lightest value while red is the darkest value.
6. Texture
An element of art that refers to the way things feel, or look as if they might feel if touched like in the poster. The poster used an old paper background
