Em - pa- thy

This week's topic is empathy. Empathy is basically how you put yourself on others' people's shoes. This means you could really imagine and feel how that particular person feels whenever they are facing a certain situation. Empathy is not only about sad and negative thoughts or situation but it can be a positive one too. For example, recently you've been receiving a lot of gifts from your families and your friend actually feel the same way too. Yep, that is empathy. You might not only experience sorrow situation but also happy and delightful moments too.

Here are some of the examples that i've discovered that suits the empathy situation:

TV Commercial by TNB (Chinese New Year Celebration)

This is one of the recent TV Commercials that I've discovered in 2020, it is about the Chinese New Year Celebration. The concept of this TVC is the use of VR. However, I must say that the whole message of this TVC was delivered excellently. It is about a Chinese guy that needs to work during CNY while all of his families at his hometown celebrating it. He received a parcel that contains VR which all the videos are made by his family. It was heart-warming and quite sad to see this TVC even when they put a happy and funny element there. In the end, it shows that his boss is empathy person. He asked him to take annual leave just to celebrate the CNY with his family and loved one. It shows that this TVC gave an impact on society especially me. Whenever I saw this TVC it reminds me of how should I be thankful. This is one of the best TV commercials I've seen so far for this year, it does implement that empathic concept and the message tries to portray how others would feel if they are not being able to go back to their hometown just to celebrate with their loved ones.

PSA Poster Ad made by Ogilvy in China.

First of all, when I saw this poster it reminds me of myself. With this era of technology, most people especially millennial are doing what exactly the poster portrays. Which means, people these days won't leave their empty hand and they would hold their smartphones like it is part of their lives. I must assume that this is a PSA poster about smartphone addiction that was going on in China. As we can see, the parent is busy checking and scrolling their smartphone like its a huge block wall between his son. It shows that he would rather spend most of his time being an anti-social person that playing with his son. Which sadden me because these days parents are more busy spending their time with phones than their children. They would just sit around all day with their smartphone scrolling or doing nothing. And neglected their own child. I must say that this is one of the empathy concepts that relate to me because I used to sit at my dining table eating and want to make conversation with my parents but they'd rather check up on their smartphones. I can relate to this situation and to be honest, it kinda hurt. So I give a kudos to this PSA poster because to be able to relate with a certain situation is not easy but this poster hit me like a truck. It does give me a big impact on how smartphones can control your life more than yourself.

Overall: both of these examples are one of the best empathic concepts I've ever seen. I can relate it to myself and how would I feel if I was in that situation. I hope it gives an impact to you as much as I do, till next time. Au revoir, bloggers!
